The Star - 14 June 2014

14 June 2014 - At 19 Culinary Studio is "Cooking it Grandma's Way" with the launching of its 1st cook book "Lost Recipes of Malaysia". This cookbook is a private collection of vintage recipes from four of the culinary instructors (Chef Shokri, Chef Khai, Baker Anand, Dietitian Chui Hoong) and the owner (Hellen Fong) of At 19 Culinary Studio. This cookbook aims to bring back the traditional way of cooking some of Malaysia's most celebrated dishes. It is also a preservation of some of Malaysia's most treasured recipes such as Rendang Tok, Nyonya Dumpling, Banana Stem Paratal, Orh Nee, Rendang Itik Salai to name a few. This cookbook is published under the Masterclass Kitchen Series by MPH Publishing and is available for sale at RM39.90 in MPH and major bookstores, mph online and At 19 Culinary Studio's website eStore.

About this Cookbook.....
The recipes in this cookbook are the private collection of vintage recipes from my chefs and I over our lifetime, passed down from our aunties, mothers and grandmothers. Our work in this cookbook brought back fond memories of dishes our mothers and grandmothers used to make. It is indeed difficult to try to preserve traditions and old recipes are gradually forgotten. Not many people know how to prepare and cook these dishes in its traditional way anymore. It took us a while to track down these recipes, ensuring to the best of our abilities that they are indeed authentic and encapsulate them into a book to keep them safe from being lost and forgotten - a treasure to leave a lasting impression on Malaysian cuisine. The completion of this book is our dream and our passion. It is our hope that this treasury of vintage recipes will continue to warm up the kitchens and fill dining tables of homes today and those of generations to come. Bon Appétit!
